Wellness Policy

Hardy County Schools invites parents to a meeting about school wellness policy at the Board of Education Board Meeting Room.  These meetings will be scheduled quarterly, and the times/dates will be posted when they become available.

Having healthy choices at school helps keep our children healthy and ready to learn. The school wellness policy helps our school create an action plan for nutrition and physical activity at school.  Parents can share their opinions and help make sure the policy is meeting the needs of our students. Hardy County School’s wellness policy is available at: www.hardycafe.com.

The first meeting will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Board of Education on Ashby Street, at 3:15 PM.  We will have a guest speaker from the American Dairy Association.  The public and all members of the community are welcome to join us!

We hope you will join us!

Wellness Policy

Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the health and wellness advisory council that includes teachers, parents, administrators, and district nurses.

Sharing the Message of Wellness

One of our goals is to share the message of nutrition and wellness via our department's Web site that emphasizes the importance of nutrition AND fitness. Our site provides information on the nutrition and fitness for teachers, parents, and students, as well as, a variety of learning tools.

Key Areas of our Wellness Policy

Balance is essential for any Wellness Policy. Key areas include:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Physical activity
  • Other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness.

You can be involved!  Wellness Committee Meetings are held three (3) times per year at the Board Office.  Parents, community members, students, and those interested in wellness and nutrition are always welcome at these meetings.  The meetings are posted above as they are scheduled, as well as posted on the BOE bulletin board.
